Clementine Vulgate (Psalm 19)

Latin.png Latin text

1  In finem. Psalmus David.
7  Impleat Dominus omnes petitiones tuas; nunc cognovi quoniam salvum fecit Dominus christum suum.

Douay-Rheims Bible (Psalm 19)

English.png English translation

1  Unto the end. A psalm for David.
2  May the Lord hear thee in the day of tribulation: may the name of the God of Jacob protect thee.
3  May he send thee help from the sanctuary: and defend thee out of Sion.
4  May he be mindful of all thy sacrifices: and may thy whole burntoffering be made fat.
5  May he give thee according to thy own heart: and confirm all thy counsels.
6  We will rejoice in thy salvation; and in the name of our God we shall be exalted.
7  The Lord fulfil all thy petitions. Now have I known that the Lord hath saved his anointed. He will hear him from his holy heaven: the salvation of his right hand is in powers.
8  Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will call upon the name of the Lord, our God.
9  They are bound, and have fallen: but we are risen, and are set upright.
10  O Lord, save the king: and hear us in the day that we shall call upon thee.

Church of England 1662 Book of Common Prayer

English.png English text

1  The Lord hear thee in the day of trouble : the Name of the God of Jacob defend thee;
2  Send thee help from the sanctuary : and strengthen thee out of Sion;
3  Remember all thy offerings : and accept thy burnt-sacrifice;
4  Grant thee thy heart's desire : and fulfil all thy mind.
5  We will rejoice in thy salvation, and triumph in the Name of the Lord our God : the Lord perform all thy petitions.
6  Now know I that the Lord helpeth his Anointed, and will hear him from his holy heaven : even with the wholesome strength of his right hand.
7  Some put their trust in chariots, and some in horses : but we will remember the Name of the Lord our God.
8  They are brought down, and fallen : but we are risen, and stand upright.
9  Save, Lord, and hear us, O King of heaven : when we call upon thee.

King James Version

English.png English text

1  The Lord hear thee in the day of trouble; the Name of the God of Jacob defend thee;
2  Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion;
3  Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah.
4  Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel.
5  We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the Name of our God we will set up our banners: the Lord fulfil all thy petitions.
6  Now know I that the Lord saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.
7  Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the Name of the Lord our God.
8  They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.
9  Save, Lord: let the king hear us when we call.

Metrical 'Old Version' (Thomas Sternhold)

English.png English text

1  In trouble and adversity
The Lord God hear thee still;
The Majesty of Jacob's God
Defend thee from all ill;

2  And send thee from his holy place
His help at ev'ry need;
And so in Sion stablish thee,
And make thee strong indeed.

3  Rememb'ring well the sacrifice
That now to him is done;
And so receive most graciously
Thy offerings each one.

4  According to thy heart's desire,
The Lord grant unto thee,
And all thy counsel and thy mind
Full well perform may he.

5  We will rejoice when thou us sav'st,
And banners shall display
Unto the Lord, who thy requests
Fulfilled hath alway.

6  The Lord will his Anointed save,
I know well by his grace,
And send him help by his right hand
Out of his holy place.

7  In chariots some put confidence,
And some in horses trust:
But we remember God our Lord,
Who keepeth promise just.

8  They all fall down, but we do rise,
And stand up stedfastly:
O save and help us, Lord and King,
When we to thee do cry.

Metrical 'New Version' (Tate/Brady)

English.png English text

1  The Lord to thy request attend,
And hear thee in distress;
The name of Jacob's God defend,
And grant thy arms success.

2  To aid thee from on high repair,
And strength from Sion give;
3  Remember all thy off'rings there,
Thy sacrifice receive.

4  To compass thy own heart's desire,
Thy counsels still direct;
Make kindly all events conspire
To bring them to effect.

5  To thy salvation, Lord, for aid
We cheerfully repair,
With banners in thy name display'd,
The Lord accept thy pray'r.

6  Our hopes are fix'd, that now the Lord
Our sov'reign will defend;
From heav'n resistless aid afford,
And to his pray'r attend.

7  Some trust in steeds for war design'd,
On chariots some rely;
Against them all we'll call to mind
The pow'r of God most high.

8  But from their steeds and chariots thrown,
Behold them through the plain,
Disorder'd, broke, and trampled down,
Whilst firm our troops remain.

9  Still save us, Lord, and still proceed
Our rightful cause to bless;
Hear, king of heav'n, in times of need,
The pray'rs that we address.

Paraphrase by Isaac Watts, 1717

English.png English text

For a day of prayer in time of war

1. Now may the God of power and grace
Attend his people's humble cry!
Jehovah hears when Israel prays,
And brings deliverance from on high.

2. The name of Jacob's God defends
Better than shields or brazen walls;
He from his sanctuary sends
Succor and strength, when Zion calls.

3. Well he remembers all our sighs,
His love exceeds our best deserts;
His love accepts the sacrifice
Of humble groans and broken hearts.

4. In his salvation is our hope,
And, in the name of Israel's God,
Our troops shall lift their banners up,
Our navies spread their flags abroad.

5. Some trust in horses trained for war,
And some of chariots make their boasts:
Our surest expectations are
From thee, the Lord of heavenly hosts.

6. O may the memory of thy name
Inspire our armies for the fight!
Our foes shall fall and die with shame,
Or quit the field with shameful flight.

7. Now save us, Lord, from slavish fear,
Now let our hopes be firm and strong,
Till the salvation shall appear,
And joy and triumph raise the song.

Káldi fordítás (19. zsoltár)

Hungarian.png Hungarian translation

Üdv a királynak!
