Italian text Il vag’e liet’aspetto Che già, lasso, mirai, M’abbagliò sì che vinto ne restai, E sì m’acces’il petto Con dolc’e viva fiamma, Che l’alm’a dramm’a dramma, Nel tempo che gl’avanz’al viver poco, Lieta si strugge in amoroso fuoco.

German translation Das hübsche und fröhliche Äußere, das ich, ach, vor mir sah, blendete mich derart, dass ich davon besiegt ward, und es entbrannte meine Brust derart mit süßer und heißer Flamme, dass die Seele nach und nach, in der kurzen Zeit, die ihr zum Leben noch bleibt, sich fröhlich verwickelte in Liebesfeuer.
