Description: Dedicated to the lord mayors and the members of the council of Celle (Lower Saxony).
In the Discantus Meiland cites the melody of „Es ist auf Erd kein schwerer Leid’n“ (a secular song), which some time later was used for the hymn „Ich hab mein Sach Gott heimgestellt“. It has been set among others by Heinrich Schütz (De vitae fugacitate and Ich hab mein Sach Gott heimgestellt) and Johann Sebastian Bach (Ich hab mein Sach Gott heimgestellt, BWV 351 and in the orchestral accompaniment to Cantata BWV 106).

German text Ewigkeit ist ein Zeit ohn End, o Menschenkind, tu Achtung darauf geben. Nicht lebet so in Sicherheit, tut Buß beizeit und bessert euer Leben. Der Mensch hat hie kein bleibend Stätt, wir müssen alle sterben, von diesem Leben Rechenschaft geben, Freud oder Leid ewiglich erben.

English translation Eternity is a time without end, o mankind’s child, pay attention to it. Don’t feel living in security, repent betimes and reform your life. Man has no permanent dwelling here, we all must die, give account of this life, inherit joy or sorrow forever. Translation by Gerhard Weydt
