English text
Slumber on, my pretty babe,
’Neath an unseen angel’s wings;
Whose confiding prayer to Heaven,
Every choicest blessing brings!
Lullaby, the pretty flowers,
Bathed in dew, have gone to rest!
Lullaby, no harm can reach thee,
Lulled upon thy mother’s breast!
If thou dreamest, may beauteous things,
Pass before thy wondering eye;
And the sounds that greet thine ear,
Echo sweet airs from the sky.
