Description: This piece appears in a number of late 16th / early 17th Century sources, untexted save for the words Amavit eum Domine, or just Amavit. The text is designated as an antiphon or responsory common of a confessor or martyr. Two contrafacta of this piece to English texts exist: I lift my heart to thee and O Lord, deliver me.
