Se parti i’ moro; e pur partir conviene.
Morrò dunque il mio bene?
E questa empia partita
che mi ti toglie, mi torrà la vita?
Dolorosa partita che m’uccidi,
quei che congiunse Amor, perché dividi?

English translation

If you part, I'll die. Yet you have to.
So, will I die, my love? 
This cruel departure drags you away;
 will it drag away my life?
Sad departure, killing me: 
why sunder those whom Love has joined together?
