English text
Garlands bring, deck'd with posies,
Violets blue and pale primroses.
Flow'rets everywhere are springing,
Birds on ev'ry bush are singing.
Come then my Phyllis, fair and gay,
Adown the meadows let us stray;
There love, see how the warblers coo;
E'en thus, my darling, let us woo.
O now you shun your own sweet love,
Who constant is as turtle dove:
Oh turn again and make me blest,
Lo, here I stand, your love contest.
Sweet cowslips paint the meadows green,
Then haste my love and be May Queen.
