English text
Slowly sinks to sun to rest,
Now the herdsman winds his horn,
Ev'ry bird is in its nest,
Sheltered by the friendly thorn.
In the wood the blackbird sings
Farewell songs to dying day,
As at morn he hailed the dawn,
So at night he chants his lay.
Flowery odours fill the air,
All is calm, and sweet, and fair.
Slowly sinks the sun to rest.
Cast thy care, think not grief
comes with the morrow,
Let thy heart find relief
from its own sorrow,
Trust all to Him who gave thee breath,
Nor yield thyself to sadness.
He cares for thee in life and death,
And fills thy soul with gladness.
