French text Au joly bocquet Croist la violette. Je vis hier Jaquet, Dire a Michelette: Faisons un banquet, Sur ce verd tronquet. Lors de sa malette, Belle et joliette, Tira un pacquet. Voire dict la fillette. Au joly bocquet, Croist la violette.

English translation In the inviting grove grows the violet. Yesterday I saw Jaquet, who said to Michelette: "Let's have a banquet on that green tree trunk." Then from his basket most fine he took out a package. "Yes," said the girl, "in the inviting grove grows the violet." Translation by Mick Swithinbank
