     Rest on the hills,
     Rest in the trees,
Rest in the wandering, whispering breeze;

     “Rest,” the sun cries,
     As he dies in the sky;
“Rest to you all, for the darkness is nigh.”

     Cloudless the heavens,
     Silent the earth,
Come, peaceful Night, to approve the day’s worth;

     “Rest,” the sun calls,
     As he falls out of night:
Rest to us all through the darkness of night.
