Description: A setting for four voices of a text set by John Wilbye (No.4 of The First Set of Madrigals for 3-6 voices, publ.1598) and John Bennet (No.13 of Madrigals for Four Voices, publ.1599).
The bass line is derived from John Dowland's ayre 'Flow, my tears' (no.2 of The Second Book of Songes, publ. 1600), itself worked form his celebrated 'Lachrymae' pavan of 1596.
