German text Wer sich die Musik erkiest, hat ein himmlisch Gut bekommen, denn ihr erster Ursprung ist von dem Himmel selbst genommen, weil die Engel insgemein selbsten Musikanten sein. Wenn einst in der letzten Zeit alle Ding' wie Rauch vergehen, bleibet in der Ewigkeit doch die Musik noch bestehen, weil die Engel insgemein selbsten Musikanten sein.

English translation If it’s music that you choose, You’ve a heav’nly gift discovered; For her birth, you may suppose, Was in heaven, I’ve uncovered, For the angels, you’ll recall, Themselves are musicians all. And if, at the end of tiime, Everything were bombed to ruin, Music would remain sublime And the most belov’d solution, For the angels, you’ll recall, Themselves are musicians all.
