Biography

Ashewell was admitted as a chorister to St George’s Chapel, Windsor, on 29 October 1491 and remained there until 14 January 1493. During the year Michaelmas 1503–3 he was one of the lay clerks at Holy Trinity, Tattershall, Lincolnshire. On 29 January 1508 he is recorded an informator choristarum at Lincoln Cathedral and in 1513 he was the cantor at Durham Cathedral.
