Latin text Surgite Pastores, Alleluia Ecce enim evangelizo vobis gaudium Quia natus est Salvator mundi Et hoc vobis signum Invenietis infantem pannis involutum Et positum in praesepio. Alleluia.

English translation Arise shepherds. Alleluia. For I bring you glad tidings: For this day the Saviour of the world is born. And this shall be a sign unto you: you shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger. Alleluia.
