Sparkle on, lovely star!
Firstborn fair of even!
Shining on, all alone,
Like the eye of heaven.
Guarding each, guiding all,
While thy rays sing as they fall:
“God is love, peace, and light,
Filling day and night,”

Sparkle on, lovely star!
Doing still thy duty,
Now day fades, twilight shades
Fillest thou with thy beauty,
With thy light clear and calm;
Whilst still like a vesper psalm,
Music falls soft and bright
Over us tonight.

Sparkle on, lovely star!
In the cool still even,
Dimly blue vistas through,
Shining on in heaven;
To our hearts smiling tell
All in heaven and earth is well:
“God is love, peace, and light,
Filling day and night.”
