Life

Flourished: ca. 1485

Died: ca. 1540

Biography

The above dates are pure guesses. All that is known of Jones is that he was a Gentleman of Henry VIII’s Chapel Royal by 1520 and is documented there until about 1535, but had departed by 1545. Thomas Morley listed him as one of the ‘practitioners’ whose works he had consulted when writing his Plaine and Easie Introduction to Practicall Musicke (1597).
