Biography

German Franciscan priest, musicologist, composer and conductor, was naturalized Brazilian in February, 9th, 1898, in the state of Bahia. A complete artist, he ran a newspaper, a film magazine, as well as a sacred music journal called “Música Sacra”. He became professor and director of the School of Sacred Music and authored masses and oratorios as well as simpler congregational music, and collected traditional Brazilian sacred melodies, publishing them in his Cecília, along with Fr. Basílio Rower.
