Description: The collect for the 1st Sunday after the Epiphany, from Garth's "Thirty collects". His settings of the collects were not intended for liturgical use (the collect of the day was invariably read) but they were intended for "those who wish to have something in the vocal way easy and proper for their Sunday evenings' recreation".
Original text and translations
O Lord, we beseech thee mercifully to receive the prayers of thy people,
which call upon thee, and grant that they may both perceive and know
what things they ought to do, and also may have grace and power
faithfully to fulfil the same, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
