English text
O’er the silv’ry waters
Let us gently row,
Where the lilies, white and gold,
In their glory grow!
Whilst ’tis early morning,
And the dewdrops gleam.
O, ’tis sweet to float along,
Singing o’er the stream!
Sing the boat-song, hey!
Sing the boat-song, ho!
As o’er the silv’ry waters’ breast
We blithely onward row!
O’er the silv’ry waters,
Now the beams of day
Sink within the distant west,
Let us take our way.
From the leafy woodlands,
From the dusky vales,
Joining us with peerless voice,
Trill the nightingales!
