Original text and translations

Latin.png Latin text

Nil pro sunt lacrimæ,
Vitali lumine functis
Nec vita revocare valent
Nec fata movere.

  • The word Vitali crossed out in the discantus part, and replaced with Mortali. This brings the text in line with the version in Heinrich Isaac's motet (preserved in Rhau: Symphoniae Iucundae (1538)), which also otherwise seems a probable inspiration for Heugel when writing this piece.
