English text
"I am the Resurrection and the Life!
He who believes in me shall never die!"
We walked together to the Tomb, the sun rose up before us.
Jerusalem’s lofty spires and domes flashed with gold,
the Temple walls awash in pink and violet.
But we felt no joy, our hearts were heavy and confused.
Could this be Him? His broken, bloodied body cold and dead?
Was this the King of Israel?
Could this be Him? Battered, beaten, spat upon?
Was this the Son of God?
Could this be Him? Crowned with thorns and crucified?
Could this be Him?
We wept and wailed. We’d waited centuries and this was our Messiah?
We reached the Tomb, the stone was cast aside.
There sat a man in robes as white as snow.
And when he spoke, his voice rang out like bells!
“He is not here, He is risen from the dead!
He is gone before you to Galilee.”
Then I remembered Jesus’ word,
His promise to His people:
"I am the Resurrection and the Life!
He who believes in me shall never die!"
Death has lost its awful terror now.
The grave lies empty in defeat!
Halleluia!
I am the Resurrection and the Life!
