General Information

Title: Magnum haereditatis mysterium
Composer: Giovanni Andrea Dragoni
Lyricist:
Number of voices: 5vv   Voicing: SATTB
Genre: SacredMotet

Language: Latin
Instruments: A cappella

First published: 1600 in Motectorum, quae quinque vocibus concinuntur, liber primus (Giovanni Andrea Dragoni), no. 1
Description: Published by Nicolo Mutii, Rome, 1600. This brief motet was given pride of place, as the first work in Dragoni's collection (albeit probably in accordance with a seasonal sequencing of the works). However, one result of that was that, when the opening pages of the Cantus partbook were lost, so was that voice part.
