General Information

Title: Communion Setting for Two-Part Choir
Composer: Nigel Poole
Lyricist:
Number of voices: 2vv   Voicing: Flexible
Genre: SacredCommunion Service

Language: English
Instruments: Organ

First published: 2009
Description: The two voice parts may be assigned according to the voices available.

For a choir with approximately equal numbers of women's and men's voices, it is suggested that the women take Voice 1 and the men take Voice 2, with the men singing in their range (an octave lower than written).

Alternatively, Sopranos and Altos may take Voice 1 and Altos and Basses Voice 2.

For an all-women's choir, the Sopranos should take Voice 1 and the Altos Voice 2.

For an all-men's choir, Tenors should take Voice 1 and the Basses Voice 2.

The accompaniment may be played on organ or piano.

When organ is used, the organist may play the lower line of the bottom stave on pedals, where appropriate, which may be for all of the Kyrie, Sanctus-Benedictus and Agnus Dei. In the case of the Gloria, much of the accompaniment contains passages unsuitable for pedals. Here, 'Man,' and 'Ped.' suggestions have been indicated in the score.
