French text Comme le vent impetueux esvente  la feulle en larbre & dans mer la gallee le dieu d'amours tout ainsi me tourmente de iour & nuict dans sa saincte vallee Sa force nest a moy son serf celee Il ma navre vaincu prins & lie Heureuse ferois si de ma bien aymee Ie pouoys estre a la fin deslie.

French text  modernised Comme le vent impétueux évente La feuille en l'arbre & dans mer la gallée, Le dieu d'amours tout ainsi me tourmente De jour & nuit dans sa sainte vallée. Sa force n'est à moi son serf celée Il me n'aure vaincu pris & lié Heureux serais si de ma bien aimée Je pouvais être a la fin délié.

English translation As the wild wind buffets the leaves On the tree and the galley at sea, So the god of love torments me, both day and night in his sacred valley.
