Description: A supplement to the New Version of the Psalms, first published in 1700. Editions of the psalms were written by Tate and Brady. There are 38 works in Edition 1, 64 in Edition 3, 71 in Edition 4, and 88 in Edition 6; 117 works in total. Later editions expanded the number of tunes. The sixth edition was the most significant, 88 tunes, many of them new. Tunes were written by several composers, notably four by William Croft: St. Matthew, A New Tune to Psalm 136 (Croft's 136th), A New Tune to the 149th Psalm of the New Version and the 104th Psalm of the Old (Hanover), and St. Anne's (Leaver 1997).
