English text
Once roam'd I in the forest,
Upon the mossy floor,
But now am I upon this dish,
O most unfort'nate Boar!
The Queen her College Oxenford
Hath brought me to this fate,
That at the Feast of Christèmas
My head is on a plate.
The other swine and animals
Do mock me as I lie,
The swans of Sinjun Cambridge,
The blackbirds of the pie;
They say, He lovèd apples,
But now he cannot munch,
For Master, Fellows, Scholars
Are hungry for their lunch.
O all ye roaming fauna,
Regard and pity me,
Who am thus cruelly roasted
And serv'd for Christmas tea;
My tusks are made impotent,
My snout is nicely crisp,
And of my rustic bristles
Remaineth not a wisp.
