Spero haver felicita
  El fe muti la fortuna
  E le stelle aduna, aduna
  La mia forte passata

  Spero haver felicita

Longo Tempo e che ho servito
   Pur sperando esser felice
   Ma me veggio haver servito
Quel che dir a me non lice
   Ma sel mora la radice
   la mia lingua parlara

Sempremai dapoi linverno
   El se vede primavera
   El turbato ciel discerno
   Che ritorna poi qual era
   E per questo lalma spera
   Chel cor lieto anchor sana

P'in quest' aspra penitentia
   Soportar non posso io
   Ne piu posso haver patentia
Che altrui gode ogni ben mio
   Ite affanni hormai con dio
Quel che ha esser al fin serra

English.png English translation

I have hoped for happiness.
That faithfullnes can change your fortune,
And the stars one by one.
  My strength is past

  I have hoped for happiness

A long time and I have served
    While hoping to be happy.
But I see that I have served
That which it does not please me to say.
But as the root have died,
    My voice will speak.

Always in winter
    Spring is seen.
    The troubled heavens discern
Which then return to what it was.
And for this the soul hopes.
That happy heart also will heal.

For in this bitter penance
   I cannot endure
Nor more can I be patient
When others enjoy all my good
   I now toil with God
What it has to be in the end.
