Biography
Mary Maxwell Campbell (1812-1886) was born in Riccarton, Scotland, daughter of Sir Dugald John Compbell of Skerrington, parish of Old Cumnock, Ayrshire, and his wife Janet Campbell Baillie, daughter of William Baillie, a Lord Polkemmet.. She composed a number of works for piano and songs. She composed “March of the Cameron Men” at age sixteen after hearing the story of Cameron of Lochiel and his clansmen from Lochaber joining Prince Charles.
