Biography Hyett is known only from a Kyrie copied into the Gyffard Partbooks. The scribe gave only his surname and the composer remains unidentifed. David Mateer considers a possible candidate to be a Thomas Hyett who was a demy at Magdalen College, Oxford, in 1529/30, a fellow there in 1534 and Claymond scholar from 1538 to 1541; he was admitted B.A. in 1534 and M.A. in 1538. However, there is no evidence that this Hyett was a composer and the surname was not uncommon in Tudor England (it appears regularly in the plea rolls of the Court of Common Pleas).
