Biography

With little known about either man, musicological opinion is divided on whether Denis Briant and Denis Brumen are the same person. Some, such as Jeffrey Read in Grove, separate them on stylistic grounds, while RISM considers them the same, following a suggestion first made by musicologist Robert Eitner (1832-1905).
