English text
Adam and all his race have fell,
And justice dooms them down to Hell,
Eternal ages there;
The almighty sentence, it is sure,
The wrath of God who can endure,
Or dwell in keen despair!
But low, what condescending love!
I see the heavens from above,
Open for man's relief!
The great Jehovah pities man,
And lo, the blessed gospel plan
Appears with terms of peace!
