Scorto da sì benigno e chiaro lume;
Il qual splendendo fuor d’i santi rami,
Fiorir fa d’ogni intorno l’herbe e frondi,
e verdeggiar tutte le valli e poggi.

Selve, sassi, campagne, fiumi, et poggi,
Quant’è creato, vince et cangia il tempo;

begleitet von solch gnädigem und hellem Licht;
welches, ausstrahlend von seinen heiligen Zweigen,
ringsumher Kräuter und Blätter erblühen macht
und ergrünen alleTäler und Höhen.

Wälder, Berge, Felder, Flüsse und Hügel,
alles, was erschaffen ward, besiegt und ändert die Zeit;

In the sweet shade of the lovely leaves
of the sacred tree, where the light was lightened,
given us her on earth from the third heaven,
to conduct the soul to the glorious hills,
sitting, I will bewail the time past,
which I lost far from the holy branches.

Never I saw such lovely branches,
nor fruits so sweet upon the leaves,
how they did show themselves at proper time,
when the sun for fear withdraw her light,
when she saw inmidst the world on high hills
that the noble plant was raised to heaven.

Although I wander about beneath the high heaven,
so lovely by the sweet shade of the beautiful branches,
and seeking ramble by woods and hills,
I don’t see a trunc bearing leaves
thus honoured by the supreme light,
as always has the holy tree.

Therefore I ever will make me from time to time
stronger, as I hear me called from heaven
accompanied by such benign and clear light;
which, radiating out of the holy branches,
makes bloom all around herbs and leaves
and green all valleys and hills.

Woods, mountains, fields, rivers and hills,
all that was created, is conquered and changed by time,
but not this plant: its leaves
rise up to the utmost heaven
with fruiting and blooming branches,
more beautiful than every gem and shining light.

Hence, following the ray of the sweet light,
and rising the eyes to the charming hills
to be able to approach the beloved branches,
I will dedicate the rest of my life and short time
to this tree of heaven,
to reap fruit, not only blossoms or leaves.

The leaves of your cross, o heavenly light,
you that lead the soul to heaven by direct way,
make me embrace them at every time, and its lovely branches.
