Biography

English composer. Works in the Old Hall Manuscript are attributed to him.

Chris Whent associates the Aleyn of the Old Hall Manuscript to Johannes Aleyn, who died in 1373; but his biography (in HOASM.org) also lists another man named John Aleyn who died in 1437, a minor canon of St. Paul's Cathedral. The Wikipedia article points out that Old Hall 129 is ascribed to "W. Aleyn", suggesting that this Aleyn and Johannes Aleyn are different persons.
