Biography
American music book compiler and composer. Born near Hopewell, New Jersey, where he lived most of his life. Smith was the author and publisher of Part II of The Easy Instructor in 1803; other editions have the lead author as William Little. Nine pieces in the 1803 edition of The Easy Instructor are unattributed there and otherwise unknown; they may have been composed by William Smith.
