English text
When Bacchus with Venus disputed the prize,
The club weighed their merits, and doubts did arise.
At length, to the beam the scale gave a kick,
And the god of the vine lost it just in the nick.
For the goddess, declaring the prize was her own,
Threw in a sweet smile, so she got it by one.
