Edition notes: The alto part is printed in the source in the treble clef an octave above sounding pitch. Only the first verse of the text given here (verse 23 of Sternhold's Ps. 73) is printed in the source: the next three verses, to the end of the psalm, have been added editorially. The small notes in this edition in the bass part in bars 5-6 are editorial, and may be played by a bass instrument if one is used to accompany the voices, in order to avoid inverting the harmony at this point where the tenor and bass parts cross.
