WE COME TO THE ALTAR

1. We come to the altar, bearing gifts of bread and wine,
fruit of the earth, work of human hands, our gifts to you, O Father.
With our gifts of bread and wine, we offer all of ourselves:
all our joys and all our pains, we bring to you, O Father.

Chorus:
We come rejoicing, we come with song and dance,
bearing gifts of bread and wine. Accept our gifts, O Father.
Sanctify the gifts we bring. Transform them, Holy Ghost,
into the body and blood of Christ, the perfect sacrifice.

2. From the many gifts you give us, O Father,
we have brought these, small, modest gifts to give back to you, O Father.
Receive us, O Father. Be pleased with the sacrifice
that we offer you, Father, with humble, contrite hearts.

3. With this gesture we recall the gifts of bread and wine,
gifts of King Mechizedeck, Priest of God Most High.
We commit our gifts to Christ, who by His death on the cross,
has perfected all human attempts to offer sacrifice.

Chorus after third verse
Desiccant and alto:
Almighty God, we praise you and worship you. God, we give you thanks, for so, very great
is your love for mankind that you gave us you only son to redeem us.
So now we come with gifts of bread and wine. God we ask you to transform them
into the body and blood of Jesus Christ, the perfect, perfect sacrifice!

Tenor and Bass:
We come rejoicing, we come with song and dance,
Bearing gifts of bread and wine, accept our gifts, O Father.
Sanctify the gifts we bring, transform them, Holy Ghost,
Into the body and blood of Christ, the perfect sacrifice!
