Latin text 8  Verbum iniquum et dolosum, longe fac a me: Domine: Divitias et paupertatem ne dederis mihi, sed tantum victui meo tribue necessaria. 7  Duo rogavi te: ne deneges mihi antequam moriar.

English translation 8  Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me. 7  Two things have I required of thee: deny me them not before I die. (KJV)
