Hi Geoffrey, thank you for accepting our invitation to become an admin on CPDL! A complete list of what an admin can do is available here, but only a fraction of these are used more often: deleting and undeleting pages, protecting pages from editing by ordinary users (usually only done for highly-used templates), and dealing with users (blocking, occasionally merging or renaming usernames etc.) Don't worry about these things for now, you'll get used to the tools as the situation arises to use them. You may want to have a look at this Wikipedia page that explains more thoroughly each of the tools (but take into account that there are minor differences in use between Wikipedia and CPDL). Your name was added to our table of administrators, feel free to edit it and include in the list any other languages you may know. When in doubt, you may always ask for help from me or any of the other active admins in that list. Regards, —Carlos (talk) 22:12, 4 October 2021 (UTC)

Hi Geoff, yesterday you added publication information to the page Beati omnes qui timent Dominum (Joachim a Burgk) I had added a few minutes before. When I wanted to add further information (links to mxl files, text link, and links to two publication pages, one of them the one by Burgk i had just created), I got a message concerning an "editing conflict" (don't remember the correct name). You had done some of the work I was also doing, but I had to overwrite part of it, because in the meantime Burgk's collection had been added by me.
When adding new works, in my opinion there often will be some addition a short time after, be it the collection page, as was the case yesterday, or a separate text page with linking other existing works to that page. So I would propose that you wait, say, for at least an hour before you start editing a new page, to avoid duplicate handling and editing conflicts. Welcome

Welcome to CPDL! We hope you will contribute much and well. You will probably want to read the help pages. Again, welcome and have fun! Claude (talk) 07:30, 4 August 2020 (UTC)

Just want to add how impressed I am by your work on publication pages! Richard Mix (talk) 18:31, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
Thanks! I am grateful for your appreciation. I think publication pages are super important, because any wiki is strengthened by adding links, publications are critical primary sources, and it's an opportunity to link to facsimiles, which hopefully increases their availability for those transcribing scores. I may not be adding scores myself, but I like to think I am contributing. GeoffG (talk) 20:00, 10 August 2021 (UTC)

Croce Penitential psalms

Wotcher. Welcome to the nightmare world of Croce's multiple printings! There seems to be some trouble with multiple pages for these psalms. Even allowing for a merger of two similar pages, the categorization as a "larger work" seems to me specious - it is no more a larger work than any other collection of motets, and should be accorded the same treatment, with a bog-standard publication page. Currently the component works are double counted on the work page (or treble counted, if you include the English contrafacts) being listed both as a larger work, and as individual items. The problem seems to stem from the fact that Sabine Cassola often directs that works are lumped together in proprietary (non-standard) bundles. Cjshawcj (talk) 09:30, 7 July 2021 (UTC)

P.S. After writing the above, I have noticed that today a new proprietary bundle has been posted (Tomkins Seven penitential psalms). This too is double-counted on the composer page. I don't believe that editorial repackaging should be incorporated on CPDL workpages. What is the party-line?Cjshawcj (talk) 10:04, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
