ScoreInfo template

Hi Carlos, I achieved a long cycle of replacement of score infos by the template and completing the info. When the three information were present (paper size, number of pages and size in kbytes), I left the old string with three non-breakable spaces at the end. So you can run your scripts. Another point: some work pages haven't any copyright template. I've them listed here. May I replace some 'GnuGPDL' (yes, with what I think is a superfluous D) copyright info by a 'GnuGPL' (without the D) copyright template? Wish you all well. Claude 13:34, 11 January 2011 (CST)

Hi Claude, your persistent work was once again quite impressive, congratulations for completing the task. I'll run through your NoCopy list to see what can be done with these cases. With regard to the GnuGPDL, it seems to be indeed a typo. If you found many such cases, I suggest you use the tool Special:ReplaceText to change them all in a single pass. What's next?

I've seen that very few pages use 'Edition' (edition notes) template. So as 'CPDLno' template. At the contrary, very few don't use 'Editor' templates, so as for 'Copy' template (many of these pages aren't work's pages but collection of works. What to do then (manually)? Do you think possible by one of your wonderful scripts to change the CPDL number info by the template? Is it useful? More generally, am I right when I think that the more we get pages unically composed by templates, the best to go to a database system, with search at the edition level, instead of a site made of pages for editors, composers, works, etc. with a search at the page level? Hi Claude, the Edition template as it is now does not seem useful, and could well be replaced by the equivalent text (the simplest way to do it is by adding "subst" to the template and saving the page: {{subst:Edition}}). CPDLno is a test being performed by Chuck, but I don't think there's consensus yet as to apply it to other works pages. The Editor template should be used in all editions because currently many statistics and listings depend on it. With respect to your general question, I'd say that you're correct, a well planned template system would simplify listings and searches, but that would not necessarily mean that the other pages (editors, composers etc.) could be eliminated. The wiki environment is basically organized around text pages; we can only emulate a database system on top of it. I'm not sure if this is what you were asking; if not, please write back! Audio files

Hi Carlos,

I have mp3s and aiff audio to go along with the files I want to submit, but they are larger than the 5MB limit on size.

Do you know a way to convert these to smaller sizes without breaking them up? Or is there a way to have my size limit raised?

Hi Richard, thanks for helping with this issue! Since you created a page for the larger work, I believe we should now merge Selig sind die Toten with it. The other editor, Victor van der Laan, just uploaded the files for the Heilig movement but didn't seem to have gone through the Add work form for his edition. Hi Richard, the reason why I decided to create this new page is because the text on the Category:Tenebrae responsories was becoming too large. As a general wiki rule, we should try to keep category pages as concise as possible, since their main purpose it to be easily navigatable. In principle there's no reason to disagree about avoiding clutter, but as a practical matter Category:Tenebrae music probably will never have more than the two subcategories. But let me ask a technical question instead: how could one list the categorized pages at the top or the middle instead of the bottom? For my own taste, Category:Tenebrae responsories would be much better if one could see the available responsory titles right below a succinct introduction (as at present) , but then be able to look below at a table showing how they fit in without navigating to another page. Another solution might be to list titles in order of services instead of alphabetically, or (more work!) have a hand-maintained list of blue links to text pages... The short answer for your technical question is no, it's not possible to change the layout of categories; but on the other way around, one can dynamically emulate a category inside regular pages using DPL, as in the examples below:

As a list

Miserere mei Domine (Victoria)

Carlos, this page contains versions of two different word settings by Victoria. Three of them are of Miserere mei Domine (Psalm 6:2 and Jeremiah 17:14) and 8234 is of Miserere mei Deus (Psalm 51) I've corrected the text and changed the page to Miserere mei Domine, but splitting out the Psalm 51 version onto a separate page is beyond my level of competence! Hi James, good catch! These two works had originally different pages but ended up mixed after an uninformed merger in November 2005. Bassano

Carlos, RE the Bassano - thanks for tidying it up (though you might want to take a look at the Andrea Gabrieli page from which I copied the format, it depends on what you think as to whether publications and collections should be split up). As to the number of parts, it's so typical for Venetian music to list it that I'm keeping it in - see the Gabrieli pages for examples! I feel it makes the music easier to navigate, and in any case the pieces are always listed in Venetian publications by part numbers. For modern precedence, take a look at any Gabrieli Consort recording of the Venetian repertoire: every single title has a part number, ie Buccinate a19, Suscipe a12 etc. Lewis 00:17, 1 July 2012 (CDT)

Hello, thanks for your message on the help page. I've just tried to upload a madrigal by Gesualdo, but I find it too difficult to follow the instructions, so I hope it's uploaded okay. I've already typeset about 30 more madrigals, so feel free to give me some guidelines, so that they can soon be uploaded. Also, for some reason I seem to be unable to create pdf files out of the original Sibelius doc., so if anyone could extract the pdf out of it that would be great.
