Background

In 1964, English tenor Robin Doveton won a Choral Scholarship to sing in the choir of King's College, Cambridge. He took his degree in Music, specializing in Composition. After University, he sang in several of London's professional vocal ensembles. He was also a founder member of vocal quintet (latterly a quartet) 'The Scholars', and his folksong arrangements were an indispensable part of their concert and recorded repertoire. He can be heard as soloist on The Scholars Baroque Ensemble's NAXOS CDs. In 1993 he founded the chamber choir Vocalis, Frankfurt which he continues to conduct, and for whom he has made numerous a cappella arrangements and compositions. He established Doveton Music in 1998 to market his own work as well as editions of other choral pieces which have stimulated his enthusiasm.
