'''1.''' Unquiet thoughts your civil slaughter stint,
and wrap your wrongs within a pensive heart:
and you my tongue that makes my mouth a mint,
and stamps my thoughts to coin them words by art,
Be still: for if you ever do the like,
I'll cut the string that makes the hammer strike.

Unquiet thoughts your civil slaughter stint,<br>
'''2.''' But what can stay my thoughts they may not start,
and wrap your wrongs within a pensive heart:<br>
or put my tongue in durance for to die?
and you my tongue that makes my mouth a mint,<br>
When as these eyes, the keys of mouth and heart,
and stamps my thoughts to coin them words by art,<br>
Open the lock where all my love doth lie;
Be still: for if you ever do the like,<br>
I'll seal them up within their lids for ever:
I'll cut the string,<br>
So thoughts and words and looks shall die together
that makes the hammer strike.<br><br>
But what can slay my thoughts they may not start,<br>
or put my tongue in durance for to die?<br>
When as these eyes, the keys of mouth and heart,<br>
Open the lock where all my love doth lie;<br>
I'll seal them up within their lids for ever:<br>
So thoughts and words,<br>
and looks shall die together<br><br>
How shall I then gaze on my mistress' eyes?<br>
My thoughts must have some vent:<br>
else heart will break.<br>
My tongue would rust as in my mouth it lies,<br>
If eyes and thoughts were free, and that not speak.<br>
Speak then, and tell the passions of desire;<br>
Which turns mine eyes to floods,<br>
my thoughts to fire.<br><br>

'''1.''' Niespokojne myśli, dość już tej jatki!
Schowajcie swą grzeszność we wrażliwe serce.
I ty języku, co w słów strojne szatki
Ubierasz je, nie mów nic więcej.
Zamilknij! A jeśli choć słówko piśniesz
Na szubienicy milczenia na zawsze zawiśniesz.

Niespokojne myśli, dość już tej jatki!<br>
'''2.''' Lecz po cóż wstrzymywać mam myśli swoje
Schowajcie swą grzeszność we wrażliwe serce.<br>
Lub język zniewolić w przepastnym ust lochu.
I ty języku, co w słów strojne szatki<br>
Kiedy serca mojego podwoje
Ubierasz je, nie mów nic więcej.<br>
Otwarte być mogą kluczem mych oczu?
Zamilknij! A jeśli choć słówko piśniesz<br>
W szkatułce je zamknę, a kluczyk schowam,
Na szubienicy milczenia na zawsze zawiśniesz.<br><br>
I zginą razem - spojrzenia, myśli i słowa.
Lecz po cóż wstrzymywać mam myśli swoje<br>

Lub język zniewolić w przepastnym ust lochu,<br>
'''3.''' Jak mógłbym więc spojrzeć mej pani w oczy?
Kiedy serca mojego podwoje<br>
Uczuciom mym ujście wszak znaleźć muszę.
Otwarte być mogą kluczem mych oczu?<br>
Mój język w rdzy kupkę się przeistoczy,
W szkatułce je zamknę, a kluczyk schowam,<br>
Li nie wypowiem, co w sobie duszę.
I zginą razem - spojrzenia, myśli i słowa.<br><br>
Mów tedy! Wyraź swą żądzę i pragnienie,
Wyraź swą żądzę i pragnienie,<br>
Co w źródła rzek zmienia oczy, a myśli w płomienie.
Co w źródła rzek zmienia oczy, a myśli w płomienie.

1. Unquiet thoughts your civil slaughter stint,
and wrap your wrongs within a pensive heart:
and you my tongue that makes my mouth a mint,
and stamps my thoughts to coin them words by art,
Be still: for if you ever do the like,
I'll cut the string that makes the hammer strike.

2. But what can stay my thoughts they may not start,
or put my tongue in durance for to die?
When as these eyes, the keys of mouth and heart,
Open the lock where all my love doth lie;
I'll seal them up within their lids for ever:
So thoughts and words and looks shall die together

3. How shall I then gaze on my mistress' eyes?
My thoughts must have some vent: else heart will break.
My tongue would rust as in my mouth it lies,
If eyes and thoughts were free, and that not speak.
Speak then, and tell the passions of desire;
Which turns mine eyes to floods, my thoughts to fire.
