Tota pulchra es Maria

General information

Several texts take The Song of Solomon as a starting point. One common version is on the page Tota pulchra es, amica mea (The first line is the 1st Antiphon at Second Vespers of the Immaculate Conception). Another group of texts substitute "Maria" for "amica" and add "originalis" after macula, as below.

Latin text Tota pulchra es, Maria Et macula originalis non est in te. Tu gloria Jerusalem Tu laetitia Israel Tu honorificentia populi nostril Tu advocata peccatorum O Maria, virgo prudentissima Mater clementissima Ora pro nobis Intercede pro nobis Ad Dominum Jesum Christum.

Polish translation Całaś piękna jest, Maryjo i zmazy pierworodnej nie ma w Tobie. Tyś chwałą Jeruzalem, Tyś weselem Izraela. Tyś chlubą ludu naszego, Tyś orędowniczką grzesznychm O Maryjo. Alleluja.

English translation Thou art all fair, Mary And the original stain is not in thee Thou art the glory of Jerusalem, Thou art the joy of Israel, Thou art the honor of our people, Thou art the advocate of sinners. O Mary, virgin most wise, Mother most clement Pray for us, Intercede for us With Our Lord Jesus Christ.
