Italian.png Italian text

Ti spontò l’ali, Amor, la donna mia,
Acciò tu gissi solo
Nei suoi begli occhi a volo.
Mira se queste sono
Piume de l’ali tue,
Ch’io n’ebbi in dono:
O perchè piangi, stolto?
Prendi le piume tue, ma taci pria
E gli occhi asciuga e ’l volto.
Ah, tel credevi, Amore!
Se voi le piume tue, rendemi il core.

English.png English translation

My lady clipped your wings, Love,
so that you would only flit
in her pretty eyes.
Check if these are
feathers from your wings,
which she gave to me.
Why are you crying, fool?
Take your feathers back, but hush up first
and dry your eyes and face.
Ha! You believed me, Love!
If you want your feathers, give me my heart back.

French.png French translation

Ma dame t'a coupé les ailes, Amour,
pour que tu n'ailles
que dans ses beaux yeux par ton vol.
Regarde si sont
des plumes de tes ailes
que j'ai reçues d'elle en cadeau:
Pourquoi pleures-tu, fou?
Reprends tes plumes, mais d'abord tais-toi
et tes yeux sèche, et ton visage.
Ha! tu m'as cru, Amour!
Si tu veux tes plumes, redonne-moi mon cœur.
