Life

Born: c. 1480?

Died: early 1526

Biography: Stoltzer was born in Schweidnitz (Silesia) and by 1519 was vicarius discontinuus at Breslau Cathedral. In 1522 he joined the Hungarian court, and it was once believed he was killed in the Battle of Mohács (29 August 1526). However his only surviving letter, to Duke Albrecht of Prussia and dated 23 February 1526, has a note dated March referring to the late Thomas, and an elegy by Johannes Lang states he drowned in the Thaya river.
