Biography

Thomas Norton was an English Calvinist, a lawyer, politician and poet. Several of his metrical versions of the psalms were included in The Whole Book of Psalms. This was the first metrical psalter to be widely used in the Church of England: it was largely based on the work of Thomas Sternhold and John Hopkins, and later became known as the 'Old Version'.
