1  The trees all are budding,
The merry Spring is come;
And who can, I wonder,
Stay moping at home,
Like the clouds that are sweeping
Across the blue sky,
Unfettered, through the wide world,
Now wandering am I.
La la la.

2  The sun calls thee onward,
His summons should not fail,
 Quick over the mountain,
And quick through the vale,
Hark! the streams bubble gaily,
The trees rustle round,
My heart is like the skylark,
And joins the merry sound.
La la la.

3  This roaming, this roaming,
Of pleasures is the best,
We feel heaven is breathing
New strength through the breast,
And the song of my heart floats
On high through the air,
Thou wide and boundless world,
Thou in truth art passing fair.
La la la.
