The gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free,
'Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
'Twill be in the valley of love and light.
When true simplicity is gain'd,
To bow and to bend we shan't be ashamed,
To turn, turn will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come round right.

Be thou humble in thy weakness, and the Lord thy God shall lead thee,
Shall lead thee by the hand and give thee answer to thy prayers.
Be thou humble in thy pleading, and the Lord thy God shall bless thee,
Shall bless thee with a sweet and calm assurance that he cares.

The life of our Saviour, an example indeed,
Free of worldly possessions, vanities and greed,
The sovereign of His soul, the master of His desires
Let us live our lives like His: simple and free.
When true humility is gained, we are open to learn
and we serve unrestrained.
“Be humble in thy calling and in thy longing”,
Through learning and serving we’ll come our right.
