1  Now hear the rippling streamlet,
That murmurs thro' the grove,
The moon and stars seem listening
From heaven outspread above.
The sounds are sweet and joyous,
And, as they rise, impart
A comfort for each sorrow,
To every human heart.

2  O! how I love to listen
To murmurs sweet as thine,
When stars above are beaming,
And all to rest incline,
They're flown, those hours of trouble,
The world is now at peace,
In such a tranquil moment,
I would my life might cease.
