Description
The Sacred Harp, compiled by Benjamin F. White and Elisha J. King in 1844, was the continuation of an American singing tradition already more than a century old. At the same time, it marks the beginning of a singing tradition that is now world-wide in scope.
First Publication date and place: 1844 by S. C. Collins in Philadelphia.
